Life’s Golden Buzzer
The Golden Buzzer
On the show America’s Got Talent, people compete and show off their talents hoping to get enough votes to move onto the next round and secretly wishing for the Golden Buzzer!
The Golden Buzzer is when one of the judges thinks that the performance was so good that they get a short cut in the program directly into the live show or the finals.

If you’ve never seen the show, it’s a decent and sometimes moving show.
Of course, thanks to the power of YouTube, you can skip all the extras and go directly into watching some Golden Buzzer winners. Here are all the Golden Buzzers from 2019: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiZuDZIGCi4
What’s Your Golden Buzzer
What about you?
If you had a chance to go onto America’s Got Talent, what would you do?
What’s your secret talent that you can share with the world?
Most people never give this a thought.
They just go about their daily lives, waking up in the morning, going to work, getting home, and watching AGT at night, never thinking about actually getting on the show or even performing.
What’s worse is that most people don’t even know what they’re actually really talented at.
And the truth of course is that everyone has some kind of talent that only they themselves are good at… some people are actually great at it… they just don’t give themselves any kind of credit for it.
When it comes to running your own business (or even starting your own business), while I teach fundamentals, process, and systems, talent is also important.
Just imagine if you were horrible at playing the guitar and you really had no talent for it whatsoever.
In fact, imagine that you spent an entire year trying to learn how to play it and got no where with it.

Would you then go and see if you can make a career being a guitarist of some band?
Probably not.
You’d fail miserably.
Sure, it’s possible that hard work and effort overcome a lack of talent… and that takes time and a lot of hard work and effort. (See what I did there? Going around in a loop? Time, hard work and effort.)
That aside, when it comes to running your business, what are you talented at?
What are your skills?
Being Well-Rounded
What could get you a Golden Buzzer of business and help you grow your business faster?
In the past, I’ve heard that you should “work on your weaknesses” so that you can be good at everything.
If you do that, you’ll become a “well-rounded” person.
Well hey, I can become well-rounded by just not working out and not eating properly.
As I get older, it gets a lot easier to become well-rounded naturally.

And hey, if you want to be healthy, you’ve got to work out and eat healthy.
When it comes to business though, it’s not so obvious to people.
Everyone thinks that they’re the business owner, so they have to do everything… even the things they’re bad at.
Technologically Challenged
Let me give you an example.
I work with a lot of real estate investors and network marketers.
Sometimes I work with individuals who are well, older – in their upper 50’s and above.
Many of these people are retired or getting ready to be retired and guess what?
They grew up in a different world.
They didn’t grow up in a world of electronics and computers.
They didn’t grow up in a world of the Internet, Google, Amazon, and Facebook.
They are what we would call Technologically Challenged to be kind.

So when they start working on their business, everyone tells them that they need these things called websites and that they should be marketing on Facebook and Twitter and be “mobile friendly”, etc.
Unfortunately, some of them don’t even know how to turn on a computer.
When they grew up, you had to wait for the phone to go around a circle for every number they dialed.

Now you just push some buttons.
It’s A Different World.
You know though, some of these people are the greatest story tellers though.
They’ve lived a full life and have a lot to tell.
They can related to people, talk to people, and build relationships.
So it kills me when they tell me that they spend days upon days and weeks upon weeks trying to learn how to use the computer and create Facebook pages and market online etc.
All they are doing is wasting their time. Hey, they’re never going to get a Golden Buzzer for SEO or online marketing.
You know though, they can get a Golden Buzzer for story telling and making people feel comfortable. They can get a Golden Buzzer for organizing things and doing things systematically.
They can do numerous things very well – just not anything technology or internet related.
So why waste their time?
Why work on these “weaknesses” when they could be instead excelling at their strengths and making things happen?
Who Dun It?
“Well Chaffee, someone’s got to do it,” you might be thinking.
And you’re absolutely right!
Someone does have to be doing it.
Just not you – if it’s not your area of expertise or strength.
If not you then who?
Well, how about hiring someone?

Don’t think you can afford to hire someone?
Then how about partnering with someone?
How about finding an intern where you can teach them something while they help you set up things?
Why not barter with a different business or service?
How about exchanging services, products, I.O.U’s?
Find something who loves doing what you hate and get them to do it.
You in turn can help them do something you enjoy that they hate.
First find out what your Golden Buzzer in life is though.
Find out what you’re good at.
Find out what you’re talented at.
Find out what you love to do and do well.
And once you do, then see how you can use that in your business and in your life.
You’ll be AMAZED at the results you can get when you work on your strengths, your passions, and your talents!
Hey, life is one big AGT show and you can win it if you play it right.
Find your talent and then put in the time and effort to win and win big!
Celebrate Life!
